Ball Clays

Ball clay contains trace amounts of other minerals and organic material. Due to its special qualities, this clay, which is highly flexible and fine-grained, is frequently utilized in the ceramics sector. Due to its resistance to high temperatures and thermal shock, ball clay is employed in the production of refractory materials such as firebricks, boiler linings, and kiln furniture. Because ball clay can be moulded into complex designs and has a low iron content, which avoids discoloration, it is used to make bathroom fixtures like sinks and toilets. Ball clay's distinct characteristics and fluidity make it a flexible material that is utilized in a variety of ceramics applications. To increase strength, decrease shrinkage, and improve plasticity, ball clay is also used in stoneware clay bodies. Ball clay is frequently included in glazes to strengthen their bonding and adhesion qualities. Because of its flexibility, white firing colour, and capacity to vitrify at high temperatures, ball clay is frequently used as a constituent of porcelain clay bodies.
