Grain Barley

Barley grain is used for the preparation of flour, cereals (pearl and barley cereals), for livestock feed. Barley is used in the production of beer and kvass, in the production of coffee substitutes. Barley is also used for the production of various whiskies, for medical and cosmetic purposes. Barley is not used directly in human food, but is mostly converted into cereals, the best variety of which is called pearl barley. In flour for baking purposes, barley is rarely ground, since it does not give a porous dough that could be completely baked.
